Our Goal

On behalf of the Prestonsburg High School Alumni Scholarship Committee, we were moved by Coach Haywood's call to "live an unforgettable life" during the 45th Class Reunion. With a majority of our class members present, we introduced the idea of granting scholarships to deserving Prestonsburg High School graduates.

This year at the 2024 graduation, we plan to present three (3) $1500 scholarships, supported by donations from classmates at the Class of 1978 reunion. Each scholarship will be awarded to a technical, trade, and general education student respectively.

Our goal as the Class of '78 is to create a scholarship fund of $100,000 by our 50th reunion. The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky will manage the collected scholarship funds in collaboration with us. We encourage all classes to join the 'Blackcats Give Back' initiative.
